- Just a short drive away is Canton Girón; there are several waterfalls which are visited by its beauty and exuberance, both by local and foreign tourists.One of the legends says that the origin of Yunguilla is related to Indigenous history as the center of the valley was a Cañari shrine showing some archaeological evidence.The elevation in the valley is roughly 7,000-feet above sea level with semi-tropical temperatures averaging 20º-26ºC in the month of August. Trekking in the Andes becomes ideal in the month of August since this is the dry season.
